Well, the sky does look fiery! But in Norwegian the name derives from the word for cave and in modern Norwegian it means luck. The district has become a tourist attraction because of its name.
wow..that fiery red flame in the sky reminds ppl of the eternal burning furnace!
ReplyDeleteGreat image and certainly goes well with that whole Hell thing. Would be pretty cool to get a postcard from Hell, wouldn't it? We have a Paradise here in Texas.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a scene from the Stephen King Dark Tower series.
ReplyDeleteThat is an amazing picture!Scary and beautiful at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI grew up not too terribly far from a town named Hell. They really milk the tourist trade as best they can, with "I've been to Hell" T-shirts and "Go to Hell" bumper stickers and what have you. Tiny little town. :)
ReplyDeleteI must admit I think it's a great card, touristy though it may be. If you look closely you can see the sign over the store is Gods Expedition. It means Freight Dispatch or similar.
ReplyDeleteMax, not far? I see. I thought it may have been much closer :)
Very interesting and controversial name for a place indeed. God bless.
ReplyDeleteImagine receiving a postcard marked "Greetings From Hell"..hehhe
ReplyDeleteHow nice, "picturesque Hell sits on the banks of the River Styx", per the Hell Chamber of Commerce.
