Ząbkowice Śląskie, Poland

Unused, undated.

Ząbkowice Śląskie
Gothic style Town Hall.

Ząbkowice Śląskie, then known as Frankenstein, suffered badly in the plague during the 17th century when around a third of the population died.  It is thought that some events at the time may have inspired the story of Frankenstein by Mary Shelley.

  3. Oh, wow! Really! I love that story. It is so deliciously awful. But your postcard is lovely! Thanks for sharing it and the history behind it.

  5. Hi Sheila,

Imagine the place without the plague, it would be overpopulated. Perhaps him (or her of course) above meant things like this to happen.

  7. Plague or no, "Frankenstein" is a lot easier to pronounce.
