Krakow Cathedral, Wawel Hill

Postmarked Krakow, dated 26 April 2009.
Cracow. Cathedral Basilica of St. Stanislaus and St. Wenceslas on Wawel Hill.

The Wawel Hill is representative of Poland's history and culture.  The cathedral is 1000 years old and the coronation of Poland's monarchs traditionally took place there.  It was also the place where many were buried and this has resulted in alterations and additions to the original structure of the cathedral, to accommodate the tombs.
