Treviso, the Buranelli Canal

Postmarked Padova, dated 20 December 2008.
Treviso. Il Canale dei Buranelli.
Treviso. The Buranelli stream.

Treviso is an attractive and prosperous town not very far from Venice, and to some extent it bears some resemblance, especially in this illustration.  It was heavily bombed during the Second World War but it has been rebuilt and restored.  It is made up of rambling streets and quiet waterways.  A town wall with moat and impressive gateways surrounds historic centre.

Its other claim to fame is the fact that it is home to Benetton, the designer clothing company marketing under "The United Colours of Benetton" slogan.
