A Week of Cathedrals: 6 - Tampere Cathedral, Finland.
Postmarked Seinäjoki, dated 23 July 2009.
This is the beautiful interior of the cathedral in Tampere. It is known for the frescoes which feature also on the stamp. They were painted by Hugo Simberg and caused some lively discussion when they were first revealed to the public in 1907. Now, they are considered an important part of Finnish culture.
