Rural house in central France

A typical house from the rural centre of France.  The Brenne, known as the Land of 1000 lakes, is a regional nature park with exceptional wildlife, most especially renowned for migrating birds.  It is a land where nature has always maintained its rights, but on the whole a forgotten area, rushed past by tourists as they seek the sun in the south.

  1. I think it would be nice to visit a spot that is rushed past by tourists. This might be a lovely spot, then, to linger for awhile!

  2. I just love that blue, not an ultramarine, more lilac-y. What a stunning accent.

Have been to Madame Pontalba's in the Big Easy many times. The French Quarter survived Katrina. Not far is Pat O'Brien's, a piano bar that serves a tall spiked and fruity drink called a Hurricane. It will knock you on your backside without so much as a 'by your leave'. Be warned. ;)

  3. It's a very peaceful part of the world. I too love the colour of the shutters. I don't know if it's in a protected area or not, but if it is it should be one of the "traditional" colours that have to be used.

Re. New Orleans, it's one place I'd love to see (another!) and if I do manage to make it, I will look out for Pat O'Brien's. Sounds good. :)
