Mir Castle
Here we have another red brick building but completely unlike anything in Albi. Mir Castle is one of two World heritage Sites in Belarus, the other being Nesvizh Castle.
It was built in the early 16th century in place of a 15th century wooden farmstead. There is a three storey palace along the eastern and northern sides of the castle.

It looks very pretty. Are these open for visits?
ReplyDeleteIsn't that just so pretty - though not comfortable to live in today, no doubt! What a fascinating hobby you have.
ReplyDeleteThat looks amazing!! Just my kind of place. It reminded me that I know nothing about Belarus though - I wouldn't have even been able to place it on a map previously but am going to correct that now.
ReplyDelete@rnsane, yes, it's open for visits.
ReplyDelete@jabblog, it's pretty draughty I imagine! I find it fascinating, certainly.
@Emm, I'm a bit hazy on all the ex USSR countries, I'm sorry to say. Improving slowly though, with all the postcards - I knew there had to be a reason behind it all. :)
