Horned grebe


I love this little fellow.  He is a Horned Grebe or Slavonian Grebe.  He was sent to me from Finland where they are more frequently seen than they are in the UK.  Judging from the distribution maps, they seem to prefer cooler climates (though ours is pretty cool at the moment). 

They rejoice in a number of common names which include: pink-eyed diver (yes, all right), water witch, devil-diver and hell-diver (grossly unfair).
