Kumana bird paradise
My lack of attention to detail has had me searching through images of Birds of Paradise to try to come up with a match for these birds. Eventually I re-read the caption on the back of the card and what it said was "Bird paradise, Kumana". Kumana is a national park on the south east coast of Sri Lanka and within it is the bird reserve which was created in 1938. I spent quite a while trying to identify the birds on the card, but all I can say for sure is that they are NOT Birds of Paradise.

A very attractive picture anyway and nice to see any day. Thanks,

It looks like a cross between a goose and a ?
ReplyDeleteI just joined the Audubon Society, so maybe I'll figure it out sometime between now and next year.
Haha! I've been on plenty of similar "wild goose chases," so I know the sensation. Great pic, too; beautiful reflection.
ReplyDeleteThey look a bit like Shags to me.
ReplyDeleteI can only identify the common birds. I wish I were better at it.
