A giveaway for pigeon fanciers

These four postcards were bought a couple of weeks ago in the south west of France where they obviously keep their pigeons in the height of luxury.  I'd be happy to live in some of these beautiful old pigeon lofts/dovecotes myself.  You'd probably have an excellent view of the surrounding area.  In fact I believe quite a number have been converted into homes, mainly for the holiday market.

It's quite fun spotting the different styles when going through the countryside and I confess, given half a chance, I could become quite addicted.  All I'd need would be a list of the different styles and I'd be there, ticking each one as I saw it.

If anyone would like to have one of these cards, leave a comment and send me your postal address to daily dot postcard @ gmail dot com.  I have only these four cards, so if there are more than four of you, I'll select four names randomly.

This is a post for Postcard Friday, which is hosted by Beth Niquette at The Best Hearts are Crunchy.

  3. They are so cute. I'd have to have one on the ground level, Sheila...since stairs are getting harder for me. Wouldn't they make fun guest room, though!

I'd like the first one that shows all of them!

  6. Interesting! :)

About my lynx from Bulgaria: the stamp says Lynx lynx, which is The Eurasian Lynx/Red lynx.

  7. Andy Capp was a pigeon fancier. So is Mike Tyson. I'm already ticked, thank you.

So... is the pigeonnier the building or the fancier? I'll guess the building. A "pigeon loft" says the translator. We'll, I'll be. So you would like to live in one, eh?

  11. Fantastic cards! In Taiwan, raising pigeons is such a huge thing some people quit their office work to concentrate on this. And it requires lots of $$$. My husband loves all sorts of birds and back in England he used to leave a bag of peanuts hanging on a clothesline for birds to eat. My brother, on the other hand, raised pigeons when he was in his teens. Lovely birds, I just don't like the mess they leave behind.hahaha.
    Enjoy your weekend, Sheila!

  12. Fascinating! Although I'd rather not spend a night in one of these. Err, the thought of pigeon poo makes me want to admire it from a few feet away.
