Wilmington, North Carolina
Today was proving to be a difficult one, with one thing after another going wrong, not least the new broadband service that was supposed to start - and didn't.
So it was the best surprise ever to have this card arrive through my letterbox. I have been able to escape the trivial problems and imagine myself walking down this beautiful waterfront alongside the Cape Fear River in downtown Wilmington, North Carolina. It was sent to me by Odie from The Simple Life. Thank you so much for the great surprise, Odie!

It was my pleasure.
ReplyDeleteAnd mine. :)
DeleteI'd like to take a ride down that waterway on that water vehicle. On a cool sunny day. Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a paddle steamer but I really don't know.
DeleteWhat is the 'black' object in the sky to the left of the boat? A smudge or what? It does not appear to be attached to anything. The walk along the quayside seems ultra-safe behind all those railings.
ReplyDeleteIt's just a little added value from the postal services. :)
DeleteWhat kind of boat is that? Is it a ferry?
ReplyDeleteI really don't know but I'd assumed it was a paddle steamer. Maybe they do trips along the river.
DeleteI love this postcard! (Thank you from me too Odie). I think it is one of the prettiest I have seen and certainly one of my favourites on your site. I'm a real water baby (although i can't really swim well) and postcards like this really make me want to visit the US again and just see all of their gorgeous towns and cities.
ReplyDeleteI agree there's something special about being near water. I wonder if its draw for so many people has something to do with being essential to life.
DeleteFound this in spam again, Emm. It seems to take a long time to train the filters.
You know, I don't think they are going to get trained. I think I'm going to permanently be like this in future. I've noticed comments disappearing for some time and thought (incorrectly) that people were removing them. I tried commenting under my other email address and it didn't work so I don't know what to do. I think my IP addresses have been banned. :( It makes me sad! I was just tried to be super supportive and friendly and comment on as many blogs as I could!
DeleteRight enough, this one went into spam too. :( It's only very recently it's happened here on this blog. Previously all your comments were fine so I really don't understand. I can't believe it's just frequency of commenting, but in truth I've no idea. I'll keep marking you as not spam and hope it eventually sinks in. :)
