Aloha

When I saw Beth's post about pineapple upside down cake for today, I remembered this postcard from Hawaii, with pineapple centre stage.  Plenty of coconuts too, and limes.

The card was postmarked 1954 from Honolulu and sent to Haarlem, Holland.  That was before Hawaii became the 50th of the United States of America.  The message on the back, in Dutch, reads:
Well, very nice, but I haven't seen them.
I assume he means the fruit.

This is a post for Postcard Friendship Friday hosted on Beth Niquette's blog The Best Hearts are Crunchy.

  3. I was in Hawaii for a total of about 20 minutes in 1968 on my way to Vietnam and I could feel the paradise effect.

  5. Since Hawaii is in my back yard, practically, I've been there about 20 times. One of my dearest friends - of fifty years - 2nd generation Japanese, is there and has been one of the most special people in my life. I love the multiethnic people of Hawaii, the food, the music, etc. I prefer Hawaiian papayas to the giant ones found in Mexico and India.
