Citroen 2CV Charleston

What the well-to-do child has for transport these days!  I used to drive a 2CV myself, and though I grant you it was a tiny bit bigger, I'm not convinced it was any more substantial.  It often did feel as though it was using pedal power.

The card came from the Netherlands.  I suppose Citroen 2CVs were available in many parts of the world but I always think of it as being a French car.

The grown-up's version came in different colours.  A fun car to drive but I did eventually grow out of it.

This is a post for Postcard Friendship Friday hosted on Beth Niquette's blog The Best Hearts are Crunchy.

  1. I adore this! What a cutie! I have a fondness for this car, and even made a board in tribute to them on Pinterest!

    1. I've always been very fond of them too, in spite of the lack of comfort. :)

  2. We don't see them here in the USA

    1. A yellow one was a star in the James Bond film, "For Your Eyes Only".

  3. The toy car is cute but the adult car is fabulous. Having never ridden in one, perhaps it's would be appearance only that draws me to it.

    1. I think they have enough character to overcome their lack of modern amenities. :)

  4. I saw one of these cars last night, watching the old movie American Graffiti. It belonged to the Richard Dreyfus character. I thought it was an odd Volkswagon at first. Imagine today, seeing this post, and being quickly illuminated. Indeed the Citrus WAS French. (En effet, le Citrus est le français.) I think they make other versions as well. Yours must have started, since you mention enjoying driving it. What a nice-looking car.

    1. It only started when it felt like it. I think it has come back as a cat. My next cat will be called Citrus, in honour.

  6. Interesting car...but I've never really been into cars...I just want something that runs and doesn't guzzle gas.

    1. I tend to feel the same way but this one was fun. And you got waves from all the young men driving the same make of car. Mostly they had beards.
