Camino de Santiago de Compostela

I've been away for a week following the Route de St Jacques de Compostelle or the Camino de Santiago de Compostelo (depending on the language of where I was at the time) from the centre of France to the westernmost part of Spain.  I was following the route in a car, I might add, unlike the many pilgrims I saw walking the way by foot, some from greater distances than others.

If you ever have the chance to visit the area, don't hesitate to take it.  It is a wonderful experience from many different points of view - historical, spiritual or even just the landscapes.

This is a post for Postcard Friendship Friday hosted on Beth Niquette's blog The Best Hearts are Crunchy.

  4. Is this the same Santiago road mentioned in Paulo Coelho's books. If you still have one of this map cards (especially the one at the bottom or the one on top), I hope you would be open to swap one with me. :)

  5. A year or two ago, I saw Emilio Estevez/ Martin Sheen's movie 'The Way', in which a father, angry, bereaved, disposessed, walks the pilgrim way (Emilio wrote the script, acted the part of the son, and directed). The places we see in the film are so beautiful, it made me want to trek, despite the fact that I'm unreligious.
The movie follows a group of pilgrims, like a modern day Canterbury tales.

If you haven't seen this film, I recommend it wholeheartedly, it's available, I see, on Amazon. http://theway-themovie.com/film.php
