Hong Kong rickshaw

The word rickshaw comes from Japanese meaning a human powered vehicle.  There used to be thousands of them in Hong Kong in the early 20th century but no new licences have been issued since 1975 so there are very few about these days.

  1. I didn't know that they had rickshaw in Hong Kong. Interesting. :) Over here in Japan, we have rickshaws only for tourists' attraction, and they give you a tour in touristry places. Every time my penpal visit here, I take them on a rickshaw tour. It's really fun. :)

  2. There are even in South Africa, but also just for tourists. I don't think that I would feel comfortable in such a vehicle.

  3. Wow, I didn't know that about the licenses. How fascinating. A blogging friend of mine is involved in the Rickshaw Run in India and now she is moving to Indonesia.

  5. They have to have a license, wow. This is a very fascinating post Sheila. I love to learn about new things from other countries, well even our own as well. I hope you are doing well, sorry I have been MIA on posting, I am sorry. I am closing Jodi's Journey down but my book review site will still be up and running, because I am so busy reading for reviews and tours, and selling books and getting orders out and trying to have a life outside of that, lol!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend Sheila ((HUGS))
