Traditional Russian house


Following on from yesterday's traditional Japanese house, here we have a traditional Russian house. Unfortunately there is nothing at all to tell me what this card from Russia is about.  It's obviously an illustration of a traditional room but there seems to be some sort of story - I can see feathers on the floor and the ladies do look surprised.  Has a chicken turned into a handsome prince?

  2. Oh I like that 'chicken turning into a prince' idea. It's like a modern day fairy tale. Hehe.

    To answer your Q about Touchnotes, yep I like them. :) Some are not nicely printed, but over-all, they made me happy.

  4. It's an illustration from Marya (Maria) Morevna, a Russian folk tale - I have a 1976 reprint of the original Russian book that contained this illustration. The illustrator was Ivan Bilibin - pages from the book are here:
