Insects

It's strange how some insects are looked on in different ways.  I feel sure there are many people like myself who would look on the top row (especially the first picture) with a certain reservation whereas the second row are verging on cuddly.  Maybe I'm being unkind to the cricket but the name "Wart biter" is hard to take.

This is a set of PHQ stamp cards issued by the Royal Mail in March 1985.  I've sent the top two cards out to people who asked for "bugs" but the following three will be much easier to place.

This is a post for Sunday Stamps, now hosted by Violet Sky at "See it on a Postcard!"

  1. I only vaguely remember the bee from this series, I wouldn't have liked the stag beetle to arrive on my mail, the cricket didn't look too bad until I read 'wart eater'.

  2. But they illustrate the bugs with pretty plants and flowers, so that is OK.
Thanks for joining in this week!

  4. I think the cricket looks cute in this illustration. Not a fan of beetles.
But am a fan of dragonflies. Go figure.

  5. Lovely set, even the first two. I love hearing crickets. And how useful if you have a wart:-)
