Industrial archaeology

I found I had this mini-sheet issued, it seems, to fund the 1990 Stamp World Exhibition in London.  I thought the set of  PHQ (Postal HeadQuarters) cards in my collection were identical but there are differences even though the subject matter is the same.  The mini sheet was issued two weeks later than the individual stamps.

At the time of issue only Ironbridge was a UNESCO World Heritage Site but now all four are listed with the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (bottom right of the mini sheet) being the most recent.

This is a post for Sunday Stamps, now hosted by Violet Sky at "See it on a Postcard!"

  1. I like that minisheet, and it's good to know that all the sites are now listed.

  2. I used this sheet sometime in the last year. I like it especially as I have an interest in industrial archaeology.

  3. Yes there are differences between the cards and the mini sheet. I guess a collector would have to buy both!
    Thank you for participating.

  4. Ah...my regret of not being able to see the Ironbridge when I was in London. Thanks for sharing this sheet, at least I got to see it here.

  5. I've got the mini sheet but hadn't seen the stamps before. I went to Ironbridge in the 70s, at that time it was a mixture of industrial archaeology and wild flowers, the perfect combination for me.

  6. I especially like that bridge but all the stamps are really nice. I always like them most when they are colorful.

Welcome to my postcard collection! I love hearing what you think of the cards - but spam WILL be deleted.
