In 1883 Renoir visited Guernsey in the Channel Islands and in 1993 the Post Office issued a set of stamps to commemorate the centenary of his month-long stay. These are just two of the set of five.
This is a post for Sunday Stamps, now hosted by Violet Sky at "See it on a Postcard!"
These are lovely and the painting so atmospheric, like most of Renoir's paintings. No, you are not late!!!
ReplyDeleteFor me it's late - so I'm heading for bed :)
DeleteBeautiful pictures which make fine stamps.
ReplyDeletehaven't seen these before.
Worth staying up for, Sheila. Unmistakably Renoir. Two fine stamps.
ReplyDeleteVery nice stamps. For once, the Queen doesn't seem distracting and out of place in the design.
ReplyDeleteha! you are so right! I didn't even notice it until I read your comment!
Deleteand yes, lovely stamps indeed! Guernsey seems to be having fantastic issues!
Gorgeous colours; how lovely to have Renoir and Guernesey combined.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely. And I din't know Renoir was in Guernsey!
ReplyDeleteI agree about the head shot - I like how the colour matches the bottom border.
