Fish of the Great Barrier Reef

Great Barrier Reef with aerial view, fish, coral, hibiscus, butterfly, turtle

Tropical and sub-tropical parts of the world seem very attractive to me as I sit looking at the rain lashing against the windows. It;s not exactly cold but much cooler than of late.

The postcard shows the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Great Barrier Reef off Queensland in the north east of Australia.  The stamps are from a definitive issue (2010) showing Fishes of the Reef.  These ones aren't found only on the Great Barrier Reef, but also off Western Australia.

From the top: Regal Angelfish, Spotted Sweetlips, and Clown Triggerfish.  You've got to love anything called Spotted Sweetlips!

This is a post for Sunday Stamps, now hosted by Violet Sky at "See it on a Postcard!"

  4. What intrigued me about this blog of yours is that you haven’t really settled in focusing on a niche or theme. When I once had many stamps, I too cannot decide which theme to focus on. The problem with those who like to collect, their stuff gets thrown out by other family members simply because they think it’s junk. I’m more of a stamp person, but I do like to admire wonderful postcards too. I love anything that has animals in it, and this post of yours made me interested to cross-check it on an online stamp catalogue, went to Australia and they were issued on 2010, June 21. There are a total of 5 fishes in this set.
