I haven't received any Year of the Sheep stamps yet so I've had to settle for this PHQ stamp card. It was issued as a Wintertime series in 1992. The others in the series showed a fox, a deer, a redwing and a hare, but these are Welsh Mountain Sheep, a hardy breed.
This is a post for Sunday Stamps, in its new home at See it on a Postcard!
what a lovely design, I haven't seen this stamp before, 39p was probably one of the higher values back in 1992.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't find any UK sheep stamps. This is fine.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful stamp, although a little bleak. Sheep amaze me, given that they are often lambing at a very cold time of year. And nothing creepier than to be walking in most and hear a sheep cough - sounds identical to a person.
ReplyDeleteWhat an atmospheric scene!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful. I love the detail of the stone wall. To think of all the labour that goes into those stone walls! And how dense and thick those sheep coats look but surely their heads get cold? They need some ear muffs!
ReplyDeleteMe too, I love this winter landscape with sheep.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely scene, their fleeces look very cozy.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful landscape, beautiful sheep, great stamp.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful sheep stamp and though I'm not a fan of winter,I'm actually getting tired of it, but the landscape on this stamp is simply beautiful.

I'm just as impressed with the stone wall as the sheep's big wooly coats!
