Alanya - Turkey
Alanya is a seaside resort and district in the Mediterranean region of Turkey. It has changed hands many times over the years, and had many name changes as a result. The name Alanya was not finalised until 1935.
The castle which can be seen here is medieval, built on earlier Byzantine and Roman fortifications. It is 250 meters high on a rocky peninsula, protected on three sides by the sea.

Like most Turkish towns on the Med, this is an amazing place to visit. It has history, beaches, nightlife, anything you could want.

@Chris, I'm always surprised, though I shouldn't be, at just how much history there is in Turkey. I've never been to Mediterranean Turkey, only Istanbul.
ReplyDelete@Shauni, I nearly forgot about the award, sorry. I'll be over!
