Stamped stamps
First a card made of stamps and stickers and on the other side a lovely flower stamp.
This poppy stamp was published for Remembrance Day in 2007 originally although it arrived here in June 2010. It was part of the mini-sheet shown below. Along the top of the stamp you can see the line of darker colour from the background of the sheet. I've left the stamp large so that you can also see the soldiers at the centre of the poppy, not immediately noticeable at first glance on the stamp.
This is a post for Sunday Stamps, now hosted by Violet Sky at "See it on a Postcard!"

I love that postcard but I really love that stamp. I didn't notice the men in the stamp but now that I do, I think it is really stunning.
ReplyDelete"soldiers at the centre of the poppy" very interesting, very creative. But I do not know what is that Remembrance Day represented for? :D
ReplyDeleteYou must have thousand of stamps and postcards huh..
Cheers.
I immediately thought of Rememberence day...even before I have read the text. I would have missed the soldiers in the center of the poppy, but now that I know that they are there, I can see them clearly. Wonderful stamp!
ReplyDeleteI love the poppy stamp, but I think it looks out of place with the other stamps on the mini-sheet.
ReplyDeleteYes, the stamp was awesome.
ReplyDeletewow, that postcard is a work of art! The poppy stamp is gorgeous too!
ReplyDeleteI missed the men in the poppy too.

ReplyDeleteMy Sunday Stamp
The number of men killed in WWI and in the American Civil War is just astounding. It is well that we remember. Thank you for participating.
ReplyDeleteI love the poppy stamp, but I think I agree with Postcardy; it should probably be grouped with something more fitting. Or am I missing out on the meanings of the other stamps?
ReplyDeleteIs your Remembrance Day like Veteran's Day in the US? Veteran's Day was originally Armistice Day (for the end of WWI). It's Nov. 11. Then we have Memorial Day, used to be May 30, now it changes yearly for the convenience of making a 3-day weekend. I'm clearly not happy with that. I just signed a petition for the date to go back to the original one.
ReplyDeleteit is a beautiful card and that poppy stamp was really nice, reminds me of the coming ANZAC Day Celebration on the 25th...that we will attending. have a great week! -Postcrossing Mom
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful stamp. I love poppies and the golden poppy is our California state flower.
