New Orleans French Quarter

Multiview postcard showing musicians, costumes, baconies, street scenes, architecture

Newly arrived from the USA, this card gives a vibrant and colourful picture of the French Quarter of New Orleans.  It is sometimes known as the Vieux CarrĂ©, or the old square which was where it all started.  It was founded by Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne who was born in Quebec of French parents.

In spite of being only 3 feet, 1 metre, above sea level, it wasn't too badly affected by Hurricane Katrina.

I have a few other postcards from new Orleans, one Madame Pontalba's Buildings shows the architecture of the area, and another, a recipe for red beans and rice, mentions an earlier hurricane from 2008, Hurricane Gustav.

  2. New Orleans, one of my favorite cities to visit. I think I may have that card, too.
