Shanghai, China

Postmark illegible, dated 4 September 2008.

Ancient towns in Shanghai
The Stone Pillar of Tang Dynasty inscribed with Buddhist scriptures. Standing now in a primary school on East Zhongshan Road in Shanghai, this stone pillar was first erected in 859 in the Tang Dynasty.

I'm posting this to today to mark the coincidence of receiving a card from Shanghai yesterday and a visit from Gone with Postcards from Shanghai today!

  1. I was in China 2 years ago, and although there were many wonderful experiences and sights, Shanghai was the greatest surprise of all. It is an absolutely amazing city. I'd go back in a heartbeat - there is actually an English Language literature festival held there each year and my dream is to be invited to present my novel. i wonder how I can make that happen? :-)

  2. Hello Sue! I imagine you arrived here via the black box. I'd love to visit China - some day, you never know. If I do, I'll be sure to put Shanghai on the list.
