Seven Bridges, Amsterdam

Postmarked Amsterdam and dated 6 August 1976.

De zeven bruggen
The seven bridges
Die sieben Brücken

Although there aren't seven bridges in the picture, I think this must be the place where you can see seven bridges at the same time.  It doesn't seem such a great feat in Amsterdam.  If you take a canal trip, there is a point at which you can see the bridges, framed one within the other.

This is a shot of that place I took in 2007.  You will have to believe me that at full size you can just about make out the seven bridges.

Seven bridges, because of course, one is never enough when you're in a hurry to get to the other side.

  1. Interesting to see the postcard from the mid seventies. Amsterdam has not really changed much over the last 30 years from the look of it.

  2. The view of the bridge is beautiful :)

  3. isn't that the main canal ? I remember taking the same exact pic when I was on a canal boat tour. this is near the van gough museum I think.

    excellent shot - you can see all 7 bridges.

    my favorite is the skinny bridge.

  4. Oh what a beautiful view Sheila. Ok I got to go away again this morning before work, thank you Sheila.

  5. @Caroline, no I suspect it's all pretty well protected from redevelopment. You do see some modern buildings but not so very many.
    @MBL, thanks.
    @RE, if I'm perfectly honest, I just can't remember. We packed in a lot of sightseeing and it's all blurred into one.
    @Jodi, that's good!

  6. I've taken a similar pic to yours of the bridges too. The canal tour is a lovely way to see more of the city.

  7. Very cool! I love the picture you took!

  9. Wow! this is beautiful. Canals are one of my favorite things here in Amsterdam, i must admit though i haven't been to this place. I really should check it out soon

Welcome to my postcard collection! I love hearing what you think of the cards - but spam WILL be deleted.
