The Museum of the Book, Den Haag
Postmark illegible, dated 24 December 2008.
Museum van het Boek
Impressie van de Boekzaal / Impression of the "Boekzaal"
Den Haag, Meermanno Westreenianum
This has to be one of my favourite cards - all those books! Bliss!
This museum, the Museum Meermanno, is housed in an 18th century town-house in The Hague. The former owner of the house left it and his collection of books to the state. It opened to the public in 1852.

What a wonderful postcard. Can you imagine pulling those books out to look at all they contain. Heaven!
ReplyDeleteHow super. I wish I'd known about that on my brief visit to The Hague when my daughter was working there. She was there for a few months but never mentioned it. Actually she never did get as book mad as I am so I guess it wouldn't have interested her.
ReplyDeleteWow. Book nirvana it is.
ReplyDeleteOh, and by the way, you're tagged :)
Old books look beautiful. I bet no-one's allowed to touch them :( Whenever I visit stately homes I love to see the library.
ReplyDeleteMy bookshelf is ugly. There are spines of every imaginable colour :(
stunning!
ReplyDeleteYou hit the nail on the head! That is pure bliss. I can almost smell the learning and history!
ReplyDeleteThis card proves that there is no such thing as too many books. It looks like my house!
ReplyDeleteOh, I like this one a lot!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone, it is a great one!
ReplyDeleteSandra, I don't myself find it ugly to have assorted books. I love the different splashes of colour. I'm sure you're right though, that nobody is allowed touch those.
Chis, you and me both!
