Victoria Square, Birmingham
A postcard sent to me inside a book. It must have been around 2005.
The Sphinx, Victoria Square, Birmingham. [UK]
During the late 20th century the square became a busy roundabout, but in 1992 it was redeveloped and pedestrianised, with a number of public artworks displayed. There is a second sphinx-like statue and between them they guard the fountain sculpture which can be seen towards the right on this card. The fountain is called "The River" and represents youth and eternity. It is more usually known as the Floozie in the Jacuzzi.
