Lynton and Barnstaple Railway, Exmoor

An unused postcard from F. Frith & Co., Ltd., Reigate.  The Lynton and Barnstaple Railway opened in 1898 and ran on a line bordering Exmoor in North Devon.  It was taken over by Southern Railway in 1922 and closed completely in 1935.

The Frith postcard company is interesting in its own right, producing postcards from the early 1890s.  When the company closed in 1971, the large stock of prints from the 19th century were in good condition and preserved as a unique historical archive.
