What is it?

Postmarked Briefzentrum 40 and dated 17 September 2009.

I have no idea what this is.  I was going to describe it as an optical illusion but it isn't that.  It's surreal, and it fascinates me.

  4. To tell the truth, I'm still none the wiser. I was hoping it would turn out to be a well-known work of art and that someone would point me in the right direction. So maybe it really is just a clever designer of postcards who photoshopped it into existence.

  5. Whatever it is, it's from Germany and some fantastic trompe l'oeil! Thanks so much for sharing this!

  6. A look at it and I thought it is an optical illusion or a 3D art piece. Then again, if this is a real place, it will be truly amazing.

  7. I'd like to wander up to the edge and look to see what's at the bottom. Probably a hot air balloon or something equally unexpected :-)

  8. Sheila it is a trompe l'oeil painting reproduced on the postcard. Does the back of the postcard have anything to say?
