Idaho

This lovely shaped card took almost 4 weeks to travel across the Atlantic, from Boise on 26 November 2008.
McGown Peak rises majestically in the Sawtooth National Receration Area near the town of Stanley, Idaho.
The mountains were mentioned six times within the message, so they are obviously well-beloved by the sender, and seeing this picture, I can well believe it.

Things I know about Idaho:
  • Snake River and Evel Knievel
  • Potatoes
  • Sarah Palin was born there
  • It's between Washington State and Montana.
I had to ask a friend to get that far.  He also told me Idaho was French but I don't think I believe him.  Apart from a number French-sounding names, I can find no reference to that.

  1. Idaho's name is actually made up. You can see details here. :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idaho#Origin_of_name

It is also one of the states that borders Canada (south of Alberta and BC border) and they have a neat National Monument and Preserve - Craters of the Moon. :D

  2. I think it's beautiful, hence the potato reputation and the mass amounts of farmland.
