American universities
Just a few months ago I commented that apart from one from a college where I once worked, I have never really seen any postcards from universities. No sooner was it said, than the fates worked overtime - and three came along at once.
The two here today are from Cornell and Akron. The top is the Myron Taylor Hall housing Cornell Law School. It looks an imposing building with appropriate solemnity and importance for a Law School.
The second card is of Folk Hall, the Myers School of Art at the University of Akron. It is one of only a few named art schools in the USA and showcases work by national artists as well as faculty and students' work.
I've worked in a few universities and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. They have a certain irrepressible spark, even at exam times.

Great to see some cards that are closer to home.
ReplyDeleteCornell looks imposing and less than welcoming. Univ. of Akron building says, "Welcome, come in!"
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised you haven't gotten more university cards. If my son was still at Cal Poly, I'd have him send you on from there!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that scrappy Grams said it first. That Cornell tower is downright threatening. I think of those poor princes (Edward and Richard) imprisoned in the Tower of London by their uncle. The Tower of London looks cheerful compared to this.
ReplyDeleteCal Poly is also another story. I'd book a room there for the summer if they'd let me.
