Kamianets-Podilskiy Castle
Kamianets-Podilskiy (spelling may vary, I'm taking mine from the card itself) Castle lies on a bend in the Smotrich River in Ukraine. Because of the situation, it looks almost like an island, certainly a peninsula. The castle was built in the 14th century on earlier fortifications to defend the bridge, the only entrance to the town.
It looks very like a smaller and unpreserved Carcassonne.

Somehow I never thought of castles being in the Ukraine so that is really interesting.
ReplyDeleteI love Carcassone. I've been there twice but only for day visits. My dream is actually to stay a couple of nights at a hotel within its walls! As for this castle, it looks so cute. I don't think I'd ever get to the Ukraine.
ReplyDeleteIt looks just like a fairytale castle :-)
ReplyDeleteI have been in that castle (Kamenets-Podolsky). That was very interesting, because in my childhood one of my favorite books was "The Old Castle" (V. Beljajev) - the story about that historical castle and boys, who were there everyday, because it was the nice place for interesting games.
