"We're going sailing today with our own boat. Later we'll have a real one, once we find one that's big."
The card is postmarked 1937, Vriezenveen in the Netherlands. Before I checked that, I would have guessed the date to have been 1940s to 50s judging by the clothes, but possibly fashions didn't change very fast in those days.

Who's minding the carriage? Yep, it was a different time.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of those paper boats that i made as a kid. :)
ReplyDeleteGood catch on the unattended carriage. I was more taken with the charming knickers and vests and tousled heads.
ReplyDeleteThe two ladies are taking the opportunity for a natter after going out with the pram.
ReplyDeleteOh happy days! Sailing our model boats on the local pond.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet picture and quote. Not when they get big, but when they find a bigger boat.

Those boys look so hopeful and full of joy.
ReplyDeleteI would have thought knickers were out of style by the 1940s.
ReplyDeleteAnother great one Sheila. Hard to believe it is that old.
ReplyDeleteYes I would have thought the 40's or 50's too.........it is a lovely card
