Independence Square, Minsk

Minsk is the capital of Belarus, formerly part of the soviet Union and before that part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.  The more I look at this building, the more I like it.  According to some, it is a typical example of monumental Soviet style architecture.  From the back of the card:
Independence Square, view of the House of Government.  It was built in 1934.
It was one of the few buildings in Minsk to survive the liberation from the Hitler towards the end of WWII.

  3. This one I definitely had to enlarge to appreciate the little box windows. What a lovely building. I really want to visit Belarus and Minsk, despite never reading a good review of it. The more people complain about this bastion of Soviet era architecture, design and degradation, the more I want to visit!
