The Queen Mother

A series of stamps, shown here as PHQ stamp cards, issued in 1990 to celebrate the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, probably the most well-known mother in the UK.  Ten years later, she was celebrating her 100th birthday.

This is a post for Sunday Stamps, now hosted by Violet Sky at "See it on a Postcard!"

  3. God bless the Queen Mum - lovely cards. I've always thought she looked a quite endearing child.

    1. She did look a lovely child. By all accounts, she grew into a force to be reckoned with.

  4. She certainly has had an interesting life and known many of our presidents.

  5. 1990 she was 60? You appear to have been misquoted.
I believe they also issued a stamp featuring her alongside a bottle of gin.....

    1. OK eagle eyes. :) Those are the 90th birthday stamps. I wonder how many people were too polite to mention it. And I should wear my glasses more often. I will update the post out of embarrassment.

  7. I like the choice of portraits, so attractive, they also reflect the formality of the era she came from. And a nicely restrained number of stamps, unlike this year's jubilee celebrations.
