Temple of Concordia, Sicily

The Temple of Concordia, pictured above and dating from the 5th century, is in Sicily's Valle dei Templi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  It was part of a Greek colony, Agrigento, and in its time one of the leading Mediterranean cities.

The stamp shows a letter speeding on its way.  This one did arrive relatively quickly but I often find the Italian postal service is less than speedy.

This is a post for Sunday Stamps, now hosted by Violet Sky at "See it on a Postcard!"

  1. I hope our postal service can be more speedy. Sometimes I start to worry for cards that hasn't arrived yet and the lapse time is already 40 days or so!

  2. Nice speedy symbolism, it is a bit of a lottery with post. Beautiful sunset on the card.

  3. Maybe the speed depends on the wind...

  5. I'm regularly amazed when looking at old post (which can have a cancellation for the place it's leaving and another for when it arrives at its destination) how quickly some of those letters and postcards arrived years ago.

  6. I like the simplicity of the stamp's design. I also wish our PO is much faster than it is now.

  7. I have a few of these stamps - and here I thought I had nothing to post this week.
I have had a few postcards arriving after a long time without an apology, so I guess we can blame the post office.

  8. I think this stamp is the most common for a standard priority letter, I have received it a few times, too. The card is simply beautiful!

  9. A simple stamp giving the impression of speed. I've reached a stage when any letters we receive are bills of just junk mail so speed is not important.

  10. What a lovely postcard. Sicily is definitely on my top-20 places to visit.

  11. Hi Sheila, it's been awhile so I thought I'd better play a little catch up. What a spectacular sunset shot of this temple. I would love to see it but I'm busy working on India temples.
