American Independence

Even though there are a huge number of different stamps that commemorate various events, I chose this stamp card last week as soon as I saw what the theme would be.  It was issued to commemorate the Bicentenary of American Independence which I thought was quite apt considering I do have a large number of American readers.  I put it in a safe place....

So, after approximately 12 hours of searching, here we have a 1976 PHQ (Postal HeadQuarters) maxi-card which was franked on the first day of issue.  The shame is that the franking is rather smudged.

This is a post for Sunday Stamps, now hosted by Violet Sky at "See it on a Postcard!"

  1. A fine stamp, Sheila. Franklin was a great man.

  2. I like maxi-cards, but have never made one. I know exactly what you mean about safe places :)

  7. I empathise with that 'safe place' its never the one you thought it was! I suppose you could say you've put the found in founding fathers this week.

  8. I've done the same thing, put something "safely" away then I'm unable to find it myself! I remember the Bicentennial, quite an event at the time.
