The province of Girona is in north east Spain, on the border with France. In fact one of its towns, Llívia, is separate from Spain and completely surrounded by France. The province is also part of Catalonia.
The area around Olot is a volcanic zone and natural park, Parc Natural de la Zona Volcànica de la Garrotxa.
Llívia is an interesting geographical anomaly, very peculiar.
