International Women's Day 2013
Two women from Malawi in central Africa who are stronger than I'll ever be. Many women in Africa, not only in Malawi, are the main earners for the family. They must provide enough food for themselves and their children and then go on to run their businesses, whether a roadside restaurant, a small holding, a market stall.
These two postcards were sent from Malawi in 1987.
This is a post for Postcard Friendship Friday hosted on Beth Niquette's blog, The Best Hearts are Crunchy.

What brave women. I've often wondered what life would be like if I hadn't been born in America. God bless the women and their children. Thank you for this post--I didn't realize today is International Women's Day!
ReplyDeleteHappy PFF!
I hope that pot is empty!!
ReplyDeletethese are interesting studies of Malawian women.
Wonderful pictures. they remind us how hard some women have to work in this world. It is much that way in India as well. I will return to India, by the way, June 1. I am doing very well with my total shoulder replacement which took place January 18 and my first grandchild is due to her arrive April 21.
