Gilbert & Sullivan

A colourful set of stamps was issued in 1992 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sir Arthur Sullivan, the composer who is probably best known for his work with dramatist WS Gilbert.  Together they produced 14 operatic works.

Five of these works were represented on the stamps.  The missing one is an 18p stamp, The Yeomen of the Guard.

This is a post for Sunday Stamps, now hosted by Violet Sky at "See it on a Postcard!"

  1. I like the pirate coming round the curtain. No wonder its a popular amateur production with all those wonderful costumes.
