Maps on Monday - Germany
Two modern cards showing post-war Germany. The first is a map of the areas of occupation as a whole while the second shows the former course of the Berlin Wall.
I can remember the disbelief I felt in 1989 when I heard the that the gates in the wall were now open. Just a few months later I saw, on a noticeboard at work, a postcard from Berlin. It was one of those all black ".... at night" ones. I remember thinking was that the best someone could find at such a historic time.

I visited Berlin in 1986 and went through Checkpoint Charlie, one of those places you never forget.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine that being quite scary too.
