Bordeaux, Port of the Moon

Bordeaux in France, known as the Port of the Moon because of its crescent shaped layout, has been in existence for over two thousand year.  The crescent shape comes about because it lies on a bend in the River Garonne.

It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of the importance of its port, its beautiful architecture, its importance as capital of an enormous wine producing area, and because over all the years it has become a cultural melting-pot where people from all sorts of religions, nationalities came together and exchanged ideas.

  2. I have driven, several times, to the Bordeaux region and gone once on the train. Bordeaux wines, when my budget allows, are some of my favorites.
