In recent years there have been several boxes of postcards produced which are reproductions of book covers. The first one I noticed was a box of Penguin book covers and that was soon followed by Puffin and Ladybird books. I like the Puffin and Ladybird covers best, probably memories of childhood.
The Puffin Joke Book cover reminds me more of my sons' childhood. I always dreaded them having joke books. There are only so many times you can laugh at the same joke.
This is a post for Postcard Friendship Friday hosted on Beth Niquette's blog, The Best Hearts are Crunchy.
I had never heard of Ladybird until a couple of weeks ago when I was at a Postcrossing meetup and we had a massive exchange. One person brought some Ladybird for trade, and I liked them much better than the Puffins. I'm hoping I can find the box when I'm in Scotland in a couple of weeks time.
ReplyDeleteThe one thing that saves the bad jokes is the laughter of the kid telling it.
ReplyDeleteI bought the Penguin and the Ladybird covers, I tend to 'accumulate' Ladybird books, so I had 2 of those, one to keep and one to send. The Puffin covers are tempting me.
ReplyDeleteThat is just SO cute! I had never heard of these before...thank you for posting. lol Made me laugh, yo did. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHappy Postcard Friendship Friday!
I have the Penguin cards and have enjoyed mailing them out. The Ladybird ones sound good. Will have to look into them.
ReplyDeleteChildren do enjoy telling their jokes over and over...just as they liked hearing the same stories read to them..and, heaven forbid, you skipped even one word!
