The stamp has been removed and the postmark with it. The date I believe to be 1923.
That wasn't the year of my birth (honest!) but today does happen to be my birthday. When I was little, and first started school, I found that I shared my birthday with another girl in my year. I was completely taken aback when I discovered. Until then I had thought 19 June was my very own special day. However, I've now managed come to terms with the idea and would like to greet anyone else who shares the day with me. Have a lovely day!
The card is a vintage Raphael Tuck & Son postcard, in their Gem Glosso birthday series. Apparently Tucks were one of the larger producers of postcards, based in London but with printing houses in Paris and New York as well, but sadly their the history, records, original paintings and postcards were destroyed during air raids in World War II.
Happy Birthday Sheila! How exiting! Do you have anything planned for tonight? Dinner.. Movie? This gives me an excuse to eat birthday cake with tons of frosting! My birthday is Dec. 25 and I still haven't come to terms with the fact that I have to share the day with Jesus!
ReplyDeletePS. hehe! I posted your link in Mr. Linky:)
ReplyDeleteThank you Marie. :) I did have something planned which involved a trip to Versailles. We postponed it until next weekend in the hope of better weather. Yesterday we had unbroken sunshine and regretted the postponement. This morning it's pouring!! So maybe, just maybe, next weekend will work out.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Sheila! I love vintage stuff like this but it makes me sad as the older generation passes on and we lose so much of our heritage.

Happy belated birthday! While close, I don't quite share birth dates with you. Mine is the 14th. We do share a sign though...Gemini...or as a fellow June birth person calls us Geminice.
