Jerusalem

According to the Postcrosser who sent it, this card shows the reality of Jerusalem - many religions in one place.  The golden dome at the top is the Dome of the Rock, the oldest Islamic monument that stands today.  The cupola is one of the seven newly gilded domes on the Church of St Mary Magdalene, built by Tsar Alexander III in Russian style.

  1. Gorgeous photo of the two domes. Jerusalem is indeed an important city for many religions.

  2. This is a must see city. It's on my bucket list. I'm going to have to live into the triple digits to finish that list!

  3. The Russian top looks almost out of place in such a Holy city. I'm not sure why. Maybe it just exudes a different sense of another culture.

  4. I thought I had commented here so if this is a duplicate then forgive me please! My father worked in several Middle Eastern countries while a contractor for the BICC. He often told me that he was amazed in some of the cities he visited that they had services from Friday to Sunday including Muslim, Jewish and Christian services. I will find out which cities those were but I don't think he worked in Jerusalem. Maybe Libya.
