Would you like a piece? Now, sit nicely for me!
Both these postcards came from a collection given to me by a Dutch friend which, I believe, were all cards sent to her brother. I tried Google translate, which I normally find reasonably accurate, for both these cards but it made little sense. I guessed the first (and may well be very wrong) but the second involved far too much guesswork so I decided not to attempt it..
Both were sent in May 1938, to the same child and from the same people. I can't imagine why they sent two cards unless it was because they couldn't choose between them, but they were sent two weeks apart.
A post for Sepia Saturday. A click on the button will take you to the blog.
I absolutely love the first card because Scotties has always been my FAVORITE!!! I used to have a Scottie and collected everything with Scotties on them. Very Cute. Love the second one with the little boy doctoring up the little terrier whether he wanted to be or not!
ReplyDeleteMade me remember my dog I had for 13 years when I was young
ReplyDeletevery endearing. I think Johan was a boy scout as he explains to the dog with the hurt paw, how handy that he knows how to bandage!
ReplyDeleteWhatever the caption, it seems like it is a mighty complicated operation. But the surgeon seems caring and the patient is being patient.
ReplyDeleteSo cute. I'm sure the child was happy to get two cards. :)
ReplyDeleteLeg hurt! ... How smart a bandage was quickly applied by Johan.
ReplyDeleteYeah, what Relax Max said.
ReplyDeleteTwo studis in concentration by the dogs and the boy.
ReplyDeleteThose remind me of the illustrations in old children's books. I tried Google translate on the second one and was surprised it was so bad.
ReplyDeleteThese are adorable.
ReplyDeleteHi Sheila, these are so sweet!
