St. George's, Grenada, W.I.

St George's is the capital of Grenada, in the West Indies.  The city is built on the slopes of an old volcano and surrounds a horseshoe shaped harbour.

The island of Grenada is often called the Spice Isle because it is a great producer of spices such as cinnamon, ginger, cloves and especially nutmeg.  It produces 20% of the world's supply of nutmeg, second only to Indonesia.  Hurricane Ivan, in 2004, caused serious losses to this industry.

The main economic force, though, is tourism with up to 4 cruises visiting St George's per day during the 2007-8 season.    The senders of the card must have been visiting on a cruise in 1976 because the message reads:
Enjoying every minute.  Very warm sea bathing every day.  Excellent food and service.  Very friendly fellow passengers.
I've never been on a cruise, but I imagine cruising 30 years ago was a different experience from the modern one.
