A seaside holiday 4: Beirut, Lebanon

This card has never been posted, but I would guess that it dates from the late 1970s.
Greetings from Beirut.

Beirut used to be a very popular holiday destination, but with the turmoil in the Middle East, this is no longer the case.  It had a reputation of being the crossroads of three continents, and often referred to as the "paris of the East".  The beaches and waterfront were being rediscovered until the latest bombardment causing a major oil spill.

  1. It is so sad that war and terrorism wreak havoc with lives and, often, lovely destinations such as these. I wish our world were not so!
