College Green Dublin

This card is unused and undated, but I'd guess it's from approximately 1910.
Bank of Ireland and Trinity College Dublin.

The building on the left is known as the Bank of Ireland, but until 1800 it was the Irish Houses of Parliament.  The statue in the centre is of King William of Orange.  It no longer exists because it was blown up in the 1930s by republicans.  Trinity College Dublin founded in 1592 is Ireland's oldest university, and in 1904 became the first ancient university to have admitted women.

  1. Wow--it was blown up by the Republicans???? Somehow that made me laugh. I imagine things have changed in almost 100 years, eh? Wonderful blog!
